7 Fashion Exhibitions to Visit 2025
By Emma Golley | April 26th 2025
If you're a fashion lover, a museum nerd, or just someone who likes pretty clothes in cool spaces, then 2025 is your year. From the glitz of New York to the elegance of Paris and the creativity buzzing in London, the biggest cities in the world are rolling out the red carpet for fashion exhibitions that are equal parts inspiring and Instagram-worthy. Whether you’re into swimwear throwbacks or ultra-glam couture, there’s a little something for every kind of style junkie.
Here are the seven top fashion exhibitions you won't want to miss this year:

1. Superfine: Tailoring Black Style
When: May 10 – October 26, 2025
Where: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

The Met Gala is always the fashion moment of the year—and 2025's theme, “Superfine,” is about to be iconic. This exhibit dives deep into the elegance, swagger, and influence of Black dandyism, showcasing designs by standout talents like L’Enchanteur, Agbobly, and Who Decides War. Think tailored perfection meets cultural storytelling with a whole lot of style.

2. Louvre Couture: Art Objects, Fashion Objects
When: January 24 – July 21, 2025
Where: Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris

Fashion meets fine art in the most Parisian way possible. “Louvre Couture” is bringing together dreamy couture pieces from the likes of Chanel, Yohji Yamamoto, and Dolce & Gabbana—and placing them right alongside classical art. It’s a rare chance to see how fashion is inspired by (and sometimes outshines) the old masters.

3. Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style
When: March 28 – August 17, 2025
Where: Design Museum, London
Ready for a dive into fashion history? “Splash!” takes us through 100 years of swimwear—featuring everything from retro beach looks to that famous red Baywatch suit. It’s equal parts fashion and pop culture, plus a fun way to think about how swimwear reflects everything from social change to body positivity.

Ever wonder how fashion shows became such a spectacle? "Catwalk!" at the Vitra Design Museum (opening October 25) struts through the evolution of runway culture, from its demure salon beginnings to today's mega-productions. Expect dramatic gowns, backstage secrets, and plenty of "how did they even walk in that?!" moments.

5. Blitz: The Club That Shaped the 80s
When: September 19, 2025 – March 29, 2026
Where: The Design Museum, London

Dust off your best eyeliner and shoulder pads — the Blitz kids are back. Launching in September, "Blitz: The Club That Shaped the 80s" celebrates the outrageous style of the nightclub that turned out icons like Boy George and Leigh Bowery. Prepare for wild outfits, neon everything, and a serious dose of fabulous rebellion.

6. Fashion and Interiors. A Gendered Affair
When: March 29 2025 August 3 2025
Where: MoMu, Fashion Museum Antwerp, Belgium

7. Marie Antoinette Style
When: September 20, 2025 – March 22, 2026
Where: Victoria & Albert Museum, South Kensington

Forget "let them eat cake" — it's time to let them wear couture! London's V&A Museum is celebrating the ultimate queen of opulence with "Marie Antoinette Style," opening September 20. Expect towering wigs, pastel silks, and enough bows to tie up half of Paris. If you’ve ever wanted to step into Sofia Coppola’s daydream, this is your moment.
